My first job out of engineering school was in an office next to a small art supply store. Sometimes during lunch, I would wander through the store to look at stuff. I felt attracted to color. At the check-out counter, they sold tiny little VanGogh prints with wide mattes to fill out 8x10 frames. I bought two of those prints and they pushed me in the direction of learning how to paint.

VanGogh blew my mind. I read his letters and fell in love with his story. For a while, I tried painting really thick like he did. Even though my current work is more modern and graphic in style, VanGogh will always be my first love and his coloring still inspires me even after 20 years.
